Service Description

(If there is one class day you are not able to come due to the holidays, please let us know, and you will be able to do one make-up class) The AKC STAR Puppy Program is designed to get you and your puppy off to a great start. The AKC STAR Puppy Program requires owners to attend a basic six-week puppy class with their puppy. For puppies between 2 and 10 months old, we require that, at the start of class, they have had at least one set of parvo/distemper shots and have been with their new family for a week. STAR stands for: Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsible ownership. Puppies' brains are like sponges, and they can learn so much in their first couple of months after you get them home. Training does not start in class. Every minute of the day, they learn and observe. Start them early, and they can achieve great things! In this class, we'll build engagement through play and teach you how to communicate with your puppy and understand them better. We will teach and practice: come when called, sit and down, heel position, loose leash walking, drop it on cue, and leave it. We will cover crate training, play pen training, how to settle your puppy, inappropriate chewing, biting, barking, jumping, digging, door manners, and grooming and handling. What to bring: 1) proof of at least one set of parvo and distemper vaccinations 2) part of their daily food, a variety of small training treats 3) mat, water & bowl 4) tug toys and a chewy/filled Kong 5) collar/harness and leash
